Top officials at the United Nations are sounding alarms about an "apocalyptic" situation unfolding in war-torn Gaza, where civilians face nowhere safe to seek refuge amid the escalating conflict between Israel and Hamas. Martin Griffiths, the top UN emergency relief official, emphasized the dire conditions, stating that people are forced to make impossible choices as they are ordered to move with little to survive on. The death toll among civilians is rapidly rising, with over 15,899 Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks since October 7, including more than 375 in the past 24 hours.
