Wenger announced on Friday that he is stepping down after 22 years at the helm of the north London club, with rumours already rife as to who will be the man to fill his shoes.

Former midfielder Vieira, who is currently head coach at MLS side New York City FC, would be a popular choice amongst Gunners fans after winning three Premier League titles with the club.

Twin Suicide Bombings In Afghanistan Leave Dozens Dead, Scores Wounded

About 30 people have been killed in two bombings in the Afghan capital Kabul, including several journalists documenting the scene.

AFP chief photographer in Kabul, Shah Marai, is among the victims.

The first explosion was carried out by an attacker on a motorbike. A second followed about 15 minutes later after a crowd, including several reporters, had gathered at the scene.

The Islamic State group (IS) said it had carried out the attack.

BBC reporter Ahmad Shah was also killed in a separate attack on Monday in the Khost region

World oldest person dies in Japan

The world's oldest person has died in southern Japan at the age of 117.

Nabi Tajima born on Aug. 4, 1900 and died April 21, 2018 was a Japanese supercentenarian she was also the oldest recorded Japanese and Asian person in history.

She became the world's oldest person seven months ago after the death of Violet Brown in Jamaica, also at the age of 117.

The U.S.-based Gerontology Research Group says that another Japanese woman, Chiyo Miyako, is now the world's oldest person in its records. She is 116 years old.

Anti-gay laws are wrong, British PM tells ex-colonies

Prime Minister Theresa May has called on all Commonwealth countries to decriminalize same-sex marriage, saying the practice of punishing people based on sexual orientation was wrong.

“Across the world discriminatory laws made many years ago continue to affect the lives of many people, criminalizing same sex relations and failing to protect women and girls, I am all to aware that these laws were often put in place by my own country, They were wrong then and they are wrong now” May said.

When the week-long Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) got underway on Monday, campaigners launched a petition calling for Britain to apologize for colonial era laws which outlaw same-sex activity in 37 of the 53 member nations. Some impose the death penalty for such offences.

“As United Kingdom’s Prime Minister I deeply regret both the fact that such laws were introduced and the legacy of discrimination violence and even death that persists today,” May told the meeting in London.

King Mswati’s 8th wife commits suicide

The eighth wife of Swaziland King Mswati III, Ms Senteni Masango, has committed suicide, local media confirmed.

“The king’s wife is believed to have overdosed on about 40 amitriptyline capsules – widely used to block the long-term (chronic) pain of some rheumatic conditions and treat depression and related disorders,” online publication News24 reported.

King Mswati III chose Ms Masango as his eighth bride in September 1999, when she was only 18. It soon emerged she had a record for truancy, poor grades and she was a high-school dropout and a rebel.

It is a tradition for the Swazi King to choose a wife every year. The Sherburne-educated king choses a new bride during the famous Reed Dance ceremony, also known as Umhlanga. The Reed Dance ceremony is an annual Swazi and Zulu tradition held in August or September. In Swaziland, tens of thousands of unmarried and childless girls and women travel from the various chiefdoms to participate in the eight-day event, and would-be brides are publicly checked to ascertain their virginity. The Kingdom of Swaziland is one of the world’s last remaining absolute monarchies. King Mswati III was crowned in 1986 at the age of 18, succeeding his long-serving father King Sobhuza II, who died at the age of 82. The king, now aged 50, who is known as Ngweyama – the lion – has many wives and often appears in public in traditional dress.

Vietnam Sentences Pastor to 12 Years in Prison for Wanting Religious Freedom Rights

A court in Vietnam has sentenced six people, including a Christian human rights lawyer and a Protestant pastor, to between seven and 15 years in prison for "anti-state" activities, according to a report.

The Christian lawyer, Nguyen Van Dai, who has provided legal advice and representation to victims of human rights abuses including religious minorities across Vietnam, received the longest sentence of 15 years in prison and a further five years under house arrest, the U.K.-based group Christian Solidarity Worldwide said in a statemstatement.

Pastor and activist Nguyen Trung Ton, along with legal expert Nguyen Bac Truyen, were charged with "carrying out activities aimed at overthrowing the government." Pastor Trung Ton has advocated for the right to freedom of religion or belief and spoken out against social injustices.

Van plows into crowd in northern German city of Münster, killing at least 3

A man shot himself after ploughing a van into a crowd of people in Germany leaving three dead and more than 30 injured this afternoon.

Authorities are treating the incident, which happened in Kiepenkerl, a market square in the western town of Münster, as a terror attack - although this is yet to be officially confirmed.

Three people are believed to be dead, six in critical condition and dozens more injured after the vehicle was driven at high speed towards families dining outside traditional restaurants Grosserer Kiepenkerl and Kleiner Kiepenkerl.

Police said the driver shot and killed himself at the scene and they are not looking for any further suspects - although there were unverified reports two people jumped from the van and escaped.
